gloomz asked:
I have been playing mainly acoustic blues, folk, and rock music for a few years. I want to get into some electric rhythm and lead jazz guitar but I do not know what kind of guitar I would be looking for. I love the sound of hollow or semi-hollow bodies the most. I know some friends who have a Sheraton but that type of guitar seems suited for an intermediate or advanced jazz player rather than a beginning one. Any advice?

Try an Ibanez AF75 or AG75 (or the S version, which has a thinner body).
Nicely priced, good quality, and very nice sound.
Its hard to pick one for a beginner, If you have the money to spend go with a Gibson ES-175 I love the sound of that beauty. The cheaper alternative to that would be the ES-137. Go with any Archtop guitar taht sounds good to you. You could also look into Epiphone, Ibanez, Gretsch, and D’Angelico are all good choices, just find out your price range and go from there.
Also don’t forget to play the guitars to find that particular tone you want.
